• Cheater’s Guide to Baseball

I can't help but recommend this book to anyone and everyone who likes baseball... and even those who really don't. A funny book about all the cheaters in baseball? What can be better than that during the steroid era?

Spring Training Probables, Update, etc. — 3.17

Posted by Jason A. Churchill on March 17, 2006

So the M’s get to take a day off during spring training, eh? How dare they remove our entertainment?

Okay, so it’s their ONLY day off of the entire Cactus League schedule.

Pitching Probables

The M’s will send right-handers Kevin Appier, Clint Nageotte and Sean Green to the hill against San Diego. LHP George Sherrill will get an inning as well.

Saturday is Felix day. Hernandez will make the start followed by LHP Matt Thornton, RHP Emiliano Fruto and LHP Bobby Livingston.

In a minor league game, LHP’s Eddie Guardado and Jake Woods will pitch an inning, as will RHP’s J.J. Putz and Rafael Soriano.

Sunday’s starter is RHP Jesse Foppert who will be relieved by RHP’s Francisco Cruceta, Dave Burba and Jeff Harris, and LHP Luis Gonzalez.

In a minor league game LHP Jamie Moyer will make another start, looking to build on his last outing.

Joel Pineiro is expected in camp this weekend and will likely make an appearance in Cactus League play Monday or Tuesday.

The M’s starting pitchers have not given up an earned run since March 11. Jarrod Washburn, Jesse Foppert, Jamie Moyer, Gil Meche and Felix Hernandez have combined for 12 straight scoreless innings over the past four games.

Opening Day Sellout?

The M’s announced today that there are 8,000 tickets remaining for opening day… ridiculous. Call ticketmaster and get your seats. You won’t be sorry.

Injury Report

2B Willie Bloomquist (finger) is expected to hit off a tee this weekend… 2B Fernando Vina (hip flexor) is finally available to play. He’ll be released in the next 10 days… OF Shin-soo Choo (elbow) is available to hit but will not throw for a few days.
