I can't help but recommend this book to anyone and everyone who likes baseball... and even those who really don't. A funny book about all the cheaters in baseball? What can be better than that during the steroid era?

Burba, Vina Released, Appier Next?

Posted by Jason A. Churchill on March 25, 2006

We all knew it was coming. Kevin Appier is next.Appier is scheduled to make another appearance before the club decides. If he is physically unable to pitch by the 27th, the club will release the 37-year-old.

Vina and Burba are both expected to retire.

Now we can move on to bigger and better things… or at least more important things.

Why is Willie Bloomquist the favorite to play center field while Jeremy Reed is on the shelf with a broken bone in his wrist?

Why is Willie the favorite for ANYTHING?

Because Mike Hargrove is an idiot. Plain and simple.

UPDATE: Appier is scheduled for a bullpen session on Monday.

    When’s Felix’ next scheduled start?

Just about the only good thing about Reed getting injured is that pretty much everybody has finally jumped onto the “Mike Hargrove is a fucking idiot” bandwagon that I’ve been driving since they hired the guy.

  3. Felix just went Thursday, so he’s probably scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

I’ve been saying this for a few years now, but in all seriousness, Brundage For Manager.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but can anybody tell me anything about Catching prospect Jesus Montero from Venezuela? The 16-year-old catching prospect that will be eligable to sign in July?

We have any chance at nabbing this guy? (If known)

    Or even a scouting report?

About all I can find on him says this:

    * He had a tryout with the Mets.
    * He’s probably going to have a signing bonus of 1.5 mill
    * While trying to get the runner on a hit and run play, he reached too soon and the batter swung and hit him in the arm.

Hargrove isn’t the guy we need to run this team. I do know of a guy in Tampa that is probably available that has a good track record.

    Pinella isn’t even an option.

  9. Neither is Piniella.

Count me in on the Brundage bandwagon. Or Rohn. The M’s have enough good candidates in house, there isn’t a real good reason to look outside the organization.

The one external guy that I did like, Maddon, is already with the D-Rays.

By the way, will there be any draft previews coming soon? It is getting to be that time of year.

  12. Yes Jerry.
